Grading Policy
PHYSICAL EDUCATION POLICIES & PROCEDURES

1. CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR
At the change of class period proceed directly to the locker room. Change into appropriate PE attire. Students should be in the locker room before the bell rings. Wait in the locker room until the instructor releases you to the gym. Go directly to your roll call number. Do not use any of the equipment, no horseplay. Remain on your number throughout attendance. At the end of class you will be released back into the locker room. Change back into your street clothes and remain in the locker room until the bell rings.

2. PROPER ATTIRE
Sneakers, shorts, tee shirt and socks are required for all classes. Students change before and after class. Jewelry, chains, bracelets, rings, hats and sunglasses are not to be worn during activity. Remove everything from your pockets. Valuables are NOT to be brought into the gym or locker area: leave them at home or in your school locker. Instructors are not responsible for items left in the gym or locker room. Team uniforms, pajama pants, and jeans are not to be worn for class.

3. NO FOOD OR DRINKS IN THE LOCKER/GYM AREA!

4. UNPREPARED STUDENTS
If a student is unprepared for class he/she will sit on the bleachers for the entire class period. Textbook, academic material, purses, and bags will be left in the locker room.

5. EXCUSED ABSENCE
If you are hurt or sick and can’t take physical education, a note from a medical doctor is required. You will be given an assignment by your instructor to be completed in a timely fashion. If you have a minor injury or illness, an excuse from a parent/guardian is necessary. You are allowed two parent/guardian notes per marking period. After two, your grade will be lowered.

6. BATHROOM
Students need to use the bathroom prior to or after class. If you have an emergency, you must ask your instructor for permission.

7. EXPECTATIONS
Students should be active participants. At all times an atmosphere of quite respect & concern for others will prevail. If a student is a hazard to him/herself, others or the lesson, he/she will be removed to the bleachers. If the disruptive behavior continues, he/she will be removed from class until the behavior changes.

8. GRADING POLICY
Prepared and active participants will be given credit for Physical Education class. Unprepared and/or non-participants will receive zero credit.

Grading Rubric: 0 unprepared or non-participant 100
1 unprepared or non-participant 90
2 unprepared or non-participant 80
3 unprepared or non-participant 70 and after school detention
4 unprepared or non-participant 60 and after school detention
Each unprepared/non-participant -10 points
Late getting into the locker room -5 points
Late for roll call -5 points

Course Outline
The Physical Education Program includes a wide variety of Activity Units. Everyone is invited to try each and every activity.
