Grading Policy
Class Projects Completed Artwork/Projects (50%)

Sketchbook Assignments Studio Practice, Preliminary work, Sketchbook Assignments (25%)

Quizzes/Tests Tests, Quizzes, Written Assignments (25%)

Homework Policy
Sketchbooks are due every Friday. A Calendar of sketchbook assignments was given to every student. Sketchbook Calendar is available on Schoology Course page. Sketchbook assignments are worth 25% of term grade.

Quiz Policy
Quizzes and Written Assessments and Written Statements are worth 25% of the term grade.

Projects
Art Projects are worth 50% of the term grade.

Course Outline
Course Outline:

1. Introduction and overview of the elements and principles of Art and Design-development of sketchbook and portfolio.

2. Drawing techniques and Gradient Shading: Dry media-pencils, colored pencils, charcoal.

3. Advancement of Drawing & Shading: pen and ink, oil pastels.

4. Painting: Watercolors, Acrylics.

5. Mixed Media: Collage, Abstract, Non-Objective Art.

6. Graphic Design/Graphic Arts-Computer Assisted Digital Art.



May/June: Final Artist Statement, Portfolio Compilation & Exam Review.

End of the Year Portfolio Assessment:
Each student will develop a collection of projects completed throughout the year. The final assessment will be given at the end of the year in Early June. The final assessment will include a written final examination, Written Artist Statement, and Portfolio Review.
