English I Final Exam
Homework is an important part of all classroom instruction. It reinforces all material. It is expected that students will complete all varieties of homework assignments.
Students will be tested on all material. Tests will be comprised of multiple choice, short answers, and essays. Students will be given advance notice of examinations. Students are expected to follow the rules for testing conditions. While tests are important, keep in mind that they account for only part of the student grade.
Quizzes will be given with, or without notice. Testing protocol must be followed during all quizzes.
Students will be expected to complete various projects throughout the year. Projects could include essays, class presentations, and research. Students are expected to complete all projects in a timely fashion.
This year in English I students will be reading from a variety of literature, which is centered on developing proficiencies within the Common Core Curriculum. Students will learn how to apply literary techniques in order to achieve a better understanding of text as well as read closely for textual details in order to make evidence-based claims. Also, the literature read in class this year will allow students to develop a broader knowledge of vocabulary and the ability to strengthen their writing skills. Students will also be spending a great deal of time studying the grammar and punctuation rules of our language. This is extremely important in developing mature writing skills.
Mrs. Russo's Creed:
Keep you thoughts positive
Because your thoughts become your words.
Keep your words positive
Because your words become your actions.
Keep your actions positive
Because your actions become habits.
Guard your habits; keep them positive
Because your habits become your values.
Keep your values positive
Because your values become your destiny.
